Poetry Friday

They cannot scare me with their empty spaces
Between stars--on stars where no human race is.
I have it in me so much nearer home
To scare myself with my own desert places.

Figure Skating

Figure skating is an amazing ride. It takes you from feeling like the lowest scum in the pond, like two hours ago. And now I feel like a flower growing out of the pond.

Tricky...

What we must understand is that the industries, processes, and inventions created by modern science can be used either to subjugate or liberate. The choice is up to us.

Sunday's Kat Kwote

Q: Why are cats not mentioned in the bible?

What are these, chopped liver?

A: Because there is no need. The Bible is a guide for us humans, The word of God, and it is meant for us. Cats do not need to know how to get to heaven. Yes, they do mention other animals but not in the way one would think of mentioning a cat. Cats can be precious to us but they are not a necessity. The Bible is filled with things we should and need to know, it is a very important book and there is simply no reason for it to be mentioned in the Bible if it were then they would be mentioned.... hope that helps =)

Well..... maybe its because god hates cats.

Theater is Alive and Well! Too Bad It's Killing Us!

Politicians do corporate bidding and stage hollow acts of political theater to keep the fiction of the democratic state alive.

Upon Opening Tut's Tomb

The first impression suggested the property-room of an opera of a vanished civilization. Our sensations were bewildering and full of strange emotion. We questioned one another as to the meaning of it all. Was it a tomb or merely a cache? A sealed doorway between the two sentinel statues proved there was more beyond, and with the numerous cartouches bearing the name of TutAnkhAmun on most of the objects before us, there was little doubt that there behind was the grave of that Pharaoh.

A Common Thread

America is not like a blanket--one piece of unbroken cloth, the same color, the same texture, the same size. America is more like a quilt--many patches, many pieces, many colors, many sizes, all woven and held together by a common thread.

Be Kind

...I am kinder as a person, more alert to the feelings of others. I can use my wit liberally, but am more careful with it now. I'm more aware of the fragility of life, and want to make sure that the last word anyone hears from me is kind. Being smart is not special; being kind is. Everything has been a gift.

Poetry Friday

It may seem paradoxical to say that there are similarities between a poetical and a commercial mind, but it is a fact that both a poet and a businessman are constantly dealing with problems that are directly related to people and for which sensitivity is of prime importance.
