Sure Would!
I really want to play Princess Leia. Stick some big pastries on my head. Now that would be interesting.

When monarchs through their bloodthirsty commanders lay waste a country, they dignify their atrocity by calling it "Making Peace."

As You're Sipping Your Bottle of Perrier, Remember This...
While impoverished nations may need funding to help their police or their bureaucrats - it will do little if we don't also help desperately poor people feed or educate their children or stop them dying from preventable diseases or dirty drinking water.

Actually, you can help. For only $35. you can provide clean water to some of the one billion who are without.

Something to Mourn
When childhood dies, its corpses are called adults and they enter society, one of the politer names of hell.

Who Doesn't Love Fried Eggs?
I did toy with the idea of doing a cook-book. The recipes were to be the routine ones: how to make dry toast, instant coffee, hearts of lettuce and brownies. But as an added attraction, at no extra charge, my idea was to put a fried egg on the cover. I think a lot of people who hate literature but love fried eggs would buy it if the price was right.

Who Knew Fraud Could Be Good?
Artists use frauds to make human beings seem more wonderful than they really are. Dancers show us human beings who move much more gracefully than human beings really move. Films and books and plays show us people talking much more entertainingly than people.

Go Ahead and Laugh!
It is a fair, even-handed, noble adjustment of things, that while there is infection in disease and sorrow, there is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good-humour.

I Agree, Absolutely
Film as dream, film as music. No art passes our conscience in the way film does, and goes directly to our feelings, deep down into the dark rooms of our souls.

And This Long Primary Season Doesn't Make Things Any Easier!
I'm not an old, experienced hand at politics. But I am now seasoned enough to have learned that the hardest thing about any political campaign is how to win without proving that you are unworthy of winning.

Sunday's Kat Kwote
A catless writer is almost inconceivable. It's a perverse taste, really, since it would be easier to write with a herd of buffalo in the room than even one cat; they make nests in the notes and bite the end of the pen and walk on the typewriter keys.

Tick Tock
Quiet minds can't be perplexed or frightened, but go on in fortune or misfortune at their own private pace, like a clock during a thunderstorm.
