Poetry Friday

The mind wraps itself around a poem. It is almost sensual, particularly if you work on a computer. You can turn the poem round and about and upside down, dancing with it a kind of bolero of two snakes twisting and coiling, until the poem has found its right and proper shape.

  1. Interesting quote -- wonder how many poets are quick to embrace technology when it comes to creative work?

  2. Yup, like a snake...sometimes you don't recognize it's there until the durn think slinks up to bite you.

This is a good one. Thanks for sharing the quote.

  3. Jama, I remember when I started out I always wrote on little 3 x 5 cards, mostly with a pencil. But, as soon as I found I could move things about easily on a computer, I was there!

Joy, I hope it's a love bite! I like the quote a lot, too!

  4. Oooh, love it! And where did you find that photo? It's so perfect. Did you read Irene's "creepy" poem this week? You two both have that slithery vibe going on.

  5. Michelle, I got the photo from flickr. In advanced search I used "dancing snakes" as a search term and set it to find only Creative Commons-licensed content. It is amazing what is available!

And, yes, I did read Irene's poem--it's that time of year, isn't it?
